Many of us are being misled into believing that bigger glutes can be built using only your bodyweight or other lite weight resistance machines or resistance bands. The truth is you must use weights, heavy weights, to build bigger glutes. Let me explain.
What is your Butt made of?
Your butt is made up of primarily muscle and fat. Since our objective is not to build a bigger butt by adding fat, we need to focus our attention on building muscle. Building muscle will give us that bigger, firmer, and rounder look you want. Adding fat would do the trick, however, you would not only add size to your butt, but also add fat to your arms, belly and thighs. And I don’t believe that is what you want. So what is the best way to build muscle?
Weights are your Friend
Well, I’m sure a professional bodybuilder would be the best person to answer that question. How does a bodybuilder build big muscles? If you were to ask any bodybuilder, they would say by using weights, heavy weights. Muscles require heavy weights to grow bigger.
Body weight exercises are mostly used in cardio workouts and are for burning fat and toning muscle. So performing butt exercises with only your bodyweight could actually be making your butt smaller since it is also made up of fat. And if you think about it, doing lunges for example with only your bodyweight is not really using your bodyweight at all. It is more like using half your bodyweight since you are using only the weight from the hips and up.

Think Like a Bodybuilder
So in order to build bigger glutes, you must think like a bodybuilder, train like a bodybuilder, and follow a high protein diet to get those butt muscles to grow. If you don’t have a gym membership, then invest in some 10, 15, or 20 pound dumbbells. And if you don’t have the money for dumbbells, then fill up some gallon jugs with some sand or rocks, or whatever it takes. Where there’s a will there’s a way.
